Welcoming in the Year of 2024! January 2024

Let’s welcome the new year, 2024! It’s our 15th Anniversary as a STEM ed nonprofit and we have all the plans in place to connect students to new hands-on STEM activities and possibilities. Great things and fun facts come in “24”, so here are a few that hold interesting significance. Let’s Go 24!

The Significance of 24 in the Human Body

Not only is the number 24 relevant to the current year, it also plays a crucial role in the body’s anatomy! Specifically, the rib cage serves as a protective shield for vital organs like the heart and lungs. This structure is composed of 24 ribs that can be categorized into three types: True Ribs, False Ribs, and Floating Ribs.

At atomic number 24, we find the element Chromium. Chromium is commonly used to give a shiny and reflective surface to various metals, such as steel, aluminum, and copper. In addition, it is employed in the aerospace industry to coat aircraft parts as a protective measure against corrosion and wear!
